Charities We Support

To be a receiving church we must be a giving church too. So we have chosen to support one charity each month. They are currently:

Jan USPG: Anglicans in World Mission www.uspg.org.uk
Feb National Churches Trust
(which gave help to Rievaulx's RoofUs appeal)

Mar Water Aid
(tying in with their Lent appeal)

Apr Martin House Hospice www.martinhouse.org.uk
May Christian Aid

Jun Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture www.torturecare.org.uk

Aug Great North Air Ambulance www.greatnorthairambulance.co.uk
Sep Church Army

Oct Church Housing Trust www.churchhousingtrust.org.uk
Nov Children's Society www.childrenssociety.org.uk
Dec Christian Aid
(tying in with their Christmas appeal)
www.christianaid.org.uk

The chosen charity receives 10% of our open collections at services during that month.

Each month's charity is featured in a display on the porch notice board.

Christian Aid, working as it does amongst the poorest of the world's people, is supported both at the time of Christian Aid Week and at Christmas.

There is a strong Christian Aid committee in Helmsley, which organises events, including a fundraising sale in Christian Aid Week, as well as the door-to-door envelope collection. For more information or to volunteer to help make contact via the Contacts section.

The Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust, part of the National Churches Trust (our February charity), is also supported through our involvement in their annual Sponsored Bike Ride. www.yhct.org.uk

Farm Crisis Network (FCN, www.farmcrisisnetwork.org), helping farming people through difficult times, is a UK network of groups of volunteers drawn from the farming community and rural churches. It sells the Vicar's books, A Vicar's Diary and A Summer's Diary for their funds. Click here for details.
