St Mary's Rievaulx

Now we've re-roofed it,
re-pointed it,
drained it,
landscaped it,
installed new heating,
freshened the noticed boards,
installed the Rievaulx cockerel on top of the spire…
we'd like to celebrate all these marvellous achievements with ...

St Mary's Rievaulx - Roofus update

Stage Il of the Restoration is complete. The central heating radiators powered by an electric boiler are installed and the cockerel is now erected on top of the spire. On 9 July, having been blessed by the Vicar, it was put in place by the man who made it, local craftsmen Bob Leete. With a design based on the cockerel depicted in a recently found fragment of medieval stained glass, it's a most fitting finishing touch.

Bob Leete fixes the cockerel.
